Privacy Policy

How Oops Calorie handles account, meal, health-related, and usage information.

Who operates Oops Calorie

Oops Calorie is operated by Van Alfred P. Sabacajan, an independent developer in the Philippines, under the public Google Play developer name ChimkenNuggyszDev. This policy applies to the Oops Calorie mobile app, website, support service, and related backend services. Privacy questions and requests may be submitted through https://oopscalorie.com/support.

Information we collect

Account and profile information includes your email address or phone number, Google account identifier when you choose Google sign-in, display name, selected in-app avatar, optional gender identity, password credential in hashed form, timezone, nutrition goal, activity level, unit preference, and optional calorie and macronutrient targets. If you request a nutrition-target recommendation, profile information also includes your birth date, height, current weight, the metabolic equation profile you select, the calculated BMI screening value, calculation assumptions and version, and recommendation date. Gender identity remains profile information and is not used to calculate nutrition targets; the separate metabolic equation profile is used only to select the applicable energy-equation coefficient.

Meal and wellness information includes meal photos, descriptions, foods, portions, estimated and corrected calories and macronutrients, meal times, reports, streaks, and your review or corrections of AI estimates. Oops Calorie treats profile body measurements, nutrition targets, and meal and weight-management information as sensitive.

Technical and service information includes device identifiers created by the app, authentication sessions, IP-derived abuse-prevention records, app and request diagnostics, AI model and token usage, feature usage, push tokens and preferences, subscription entitlement and product information, and support details you choose to submit. Google Play handles payment-card details; Oops Calorie does not receive or store complete card details.

How and why we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; analyze, save, edit, synchronize, and delete meals; calculate totals, reports, optional nutrition-target recommendations, goals, streaks, and allowances; provide Coach Cal feedback; deliver requested notifications and account emails; administer subscriptions; answer support requests; prevent fraud and abuse; troubleshoot failures; measure reliability and cost; comply with law; and protect users and the service.

Nutrition-target calculations are deterministic. Coach Cal may explain a completed calculation using minimized derived context, but AI does not create or override the numeric targets. Processing is necessary to provide the service you request, to honor your choices and consent, to meet legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as security, fraud prevention, support, and service reliability. You may withdraw optional notification permissions or preferences at any time.

AI meal analysis

When you request analysis, Oops Calorie may send your meal photo, meal description, relevant goal or activity context, and limited technical request information to Anthropic to generate food candidates, portion and nutrition estimates, uncertainty information, and Coach Cal text. AI results can be incomplete or wrong and must be reviewed before confirmation.

Do not include faces, documents, addresses, or unrelated sensitive material in meal photos or descriptions. Oops Calorie does not use AI output for medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency decisions. You may report a problematic AI result from within the app or through Support.

Service providers and international processing

We use service providers only as needed to operate Oops Calorie: Google for sign-in, Play distribution, billing, and Firebase messaging; Anthropic for AI analysis; MongoDB for database hosting; Cloudflare for meal-image object storage; Railway for API hosting; Vercel for the public website; Resend for transactional and support email; RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management; and Expo for app builds, updates, and push-notification delivery.

These providers may process information in countries outside the Philippines. We use provider contracts, access controls, encryption in transit, and data-minimization measures intended to provide protection appropriate to the information. Each provider also processes information under its own applicable terms and privacy commitments.

Sharing, sale, and advertising

We do not sell personal information. We do not use meal photos, nutrition information, or health-related information for targeted advertising. We share information with the service providers described above, when you direct us, when required by law or valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to prevent harm, fraud, abuse, or attacks on the service. Oops Calorie does not currently display third-party advertising.

Storage, security, and retention

We use HTTPS, access controls, hashed passwords, rotating session credentials, and restricted server-side secrets. No system can guarantee absolute security. Meal photos and meal records are retained while your account is active unless you delete the meal sooner. Account, profile, reports, notification preferences, and subscription-entitlement records are retained while needed to operate your account.

Short-lived request-idempotency and rate-limit records expire automatically, generally within 24 hours. Support message bodies are delivered by email and are not stored in the Oops Calorie application database; limited anti-abuse records expire automatically. Operational and AI usage records are retained only while needed for security, allowance enforcement, troubleshooting, and service measurement, and are deleted when the associated account is deleted unless retention is required by law.

After an account-deletion request is verified, deletion from active Oops Calorie systems is initiated promptly. Service-provider backups may retain protected residual copies until overwritten under their normal backup cycles. Such residual copies are isolated from ordinary use and retained only for disaster recovery or legal obligations.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can review and edit profile and meal information in the app, correct AI estimates, delete individual meals, disable optional notifications, manage your Google Play subscription, and permanently delete your account. You may also request access, correction, a copy of your information where applicable, restriction or objection to processing, withdrawal of consent, or deletion by using Support.

You may raise a privacy concern with us first through Support. If you believe your rights under the Philippine Data Privacy Act have been violated, you may also contact or file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines.

Account deletion

In the app, open Profile & Settings, choose Delete account and data, and confirm. Without the app, visit https://oopscalorie.com/delete-account and submit a verified request through Support using the email associated with the account. Deletion removes the account and associated meals, reports, insights, stored meal photos, push registrations and preferences, and account-linked operational records from active Oops Calorie systems.

Deleting Oops Calorie does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel the subscription in Google Play before or after deleting the account. Google, RevenueCat, email providers, or other processors may retain records independently where required for transactions, security, dispute handling, or law.

Adults only

Oops Calorie is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly offer the service to or collect personal information from children. If you believe a person under 18 has created an account, contact us through Support so we can investigate and delete the account where appropriate.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or provider changes. Material changes will receive a new effective version and may require renewed acknowledgment in the app. The current version is available at https://oopscalorie.com/privacy.
